The Brother MFC-8700 boasts a print speed of up to 12 pages per minute and a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. Copy speeds are offered at the same output rate, though interpolated resolution scanning allows for up to 1200 x 1200 dpi on copies and scans. The fax capability allows you to send and receive documents via the 14.4K modem, and a PC fax connection means that you can fax directly from your computer. The 4MB of memory means that fax storage reaches a maximum of 310 pages.
Connectivity for the Brother MFC-8700 is offered through the Parallel and USB ports. This printer is meant to connect to a single user or to an external networking device. Most operating systems from Windows and Mac are compatible.
One of the most unique features of the Brother MFC-8700 is its video capture capability. This allows you to print monochrome images directly from your camcorder or digital camera. The resolution of these gray scale images is comparable to the print quality of 600 x 600 dpi.
